Ridgewood, New Jersey
After completing Ridgewood Public Library's Teen Zone, Garrigan Design Group was hired to redesign the library's art studio. We again worked alongside the Whalen Berez Group to completely re-design and manage the project's delivery and installation.
Giana carried the design that was employed in the library's teen zone and brought it into the new art studio for a cohesive design. The renovation included new LVT flooring, paint, lighting, furniture, and custom storage millwork. It was important that the space had versatility for the library's various children and adult programs. The new storage millwork doubles as a dry erase whiteboard; Giana specified dry erase laminate for all of the tall doors instead of installing whiteboards and losing the storage options.
The room's main space has new nesting mobile tables that can be rearranged for different programs and are equipped with wipeable high-performance laminate tabletops. The stacking chairs are poly chairs that can also be wiped clean after children's paint and art sessions.
The art studio and teen zone projects were so successful that Ridgewood Public Library decided to move forward in designing the renovation of their mezzanine level, circulation space, and lobby with Giana.
